Anita's Cakes & Candies
My name is Anita Price. I am the owner/designer of Anita's Cakes & Candies. I have been legally licensed thru the NC Dept of Agriculture since May 2007.

My passion in life is to create beautiful works of edible art for any occasion....whether it be in cake form, candy or other sweets that are pleasing to the eye, as well as the tummy! . I have always loved to bake and create goodies for my family.....I just decided to 'take it to the next step' so to speak.....my love of baking comes from my Grandmother Daisy, I remember she always had something in the sweet line EVERY time I went to her home....my favorite of hers was her Lemon Poundcake. It was so very good!

I have been happily married for 26 years to my sweetheart, Bobby, and we are the proud parents of 2 children. I love to scrapbook, make cards, and cross stitch in my spare time when not creating something lovely and pleasing to the eye.

Yours truly,

Anita

"How much notice do I need to give you for placing a cake order?"

If at all possible, I need at least 48  hours....I DO NOT keep baked goods frozen ahead of time....ALL MY BAKERY ITEMS ARE BAKED FRESH TO ORDER.
*For fondant or gumpaste decorations, please allow a week, as these types of decorations take time to create and drying time as well.*

"Your cakes are more expensive than the grocery store cakes..."

Yes, yes they are. Custom cakes are more expensive than grocery store cakes. They do theirs in bulk and usually ship them in pre-baked and/or frozen. I make mine fresh, NEVER FROZEN, and the taste reflects that. Also, the special decorating ideas  are  something that you can not get at a grocery store.
"Why is Fondant more costly?"

Fondant is very labor intensive. A fondant covered cake must still be iced in buttercream and then fondant added to it so your cake will have BOTH types of icing for your guests. This means your cake is actually ICED TWICE. Fondant is also very expensive to purchase or time consuming to make.
"Can I just fresh flowers on my cake?"

Fresh flowers are used frequently on wedding, anniversary and party cakes. HOWEVER, you need to be aware that some flowers are poisonout and should not be in contact with food. Here is a link to a list of flowers that are considered safe... http://cakecentral.com/article18-List-of-Non_Toxic-Flowers-For-Garnishing-your-Cake.html

"How do we properly store the First Anniversary cake?"

Here is a link from the Wilton website with directions on how to safely wrap and store your top tier if you are saving it for your first anniversary..... http://www.wilton.com/wedding/wedding-cakes/storing-wedding-cakes.cfm
"What is your payment policy?"

For most orders, payment is due upon pickup or delivery....as in smaller cakes, such as birthday, baby shower, etc.

*Your event does not go on my calendar until I receive a 50% deposit towards your order. Your balance is due 30 days from your actual event.*

*This applies to large orders as in wedding, anniversary, 'big event' cakes....* Questions? ASK ME!
"Do you accept personal checks or credit cards?"

I accept cash only, as I have had to deal with bounced checks and fees the past several years. I am a small bakery business, so no credit cards at this time.
"Do you deliver?"

Yes, I do, within a certain mile radius.  I do have a delivery fee which is figured upon mileage.
